Description
Celery Elne is a variety with chubby perfectly round smooth ribs and an excellent delicate flavour. It has upright heads packed with crisp, flavourful stalks. It is early to mature and is vigorous. Elne is medium tall with thick bright green ribs and dark green leaves. The Seed germinates slowly, but ensure that the seed mix stays moist. Transplant out when the weather has become warm and settled.
Culture Tip:
- Sowing: Sow Feb to March in a tray with fine and rich potting soil.
- Thinning: If necessary thin your plants when they have 2-3 leaves.
- Transplanting: From May – June, plant them in the ground at a 30 cm distance. Celery likes a lightly shaded exposure.
- Harvest: Harvest from Aug – October.
- Matures 90 days from transplant.

- Celery likes the proximity of cauliflower which allows it to absorb nutrients from soil more effectively and therefore increases yields.
Uses
- Celery adds flavour to soups and guarantees different sauces. It is also delicious in a salad with chopped tomatoes soaked in mayonnaise.
