Description
Disultrim
Disultrim is a powerful broad-spectrum bactericidal combination of Trimethoprim and sulphamethoxazole which acts synergistically to efficiently eliminate both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections.
- This product is effective against multi-drug resistant bacterial infections
- It is indicated for combating: Pneumonia, Bronchopneumonia, Bronchitis, Enteritis, Gastroenteritis, Peritonitis, Mastitis, Metritis, Colibacillosis, Septicemia, Phlegmon, Abscesses, Wounds, Prophylaxis and therapy of surgical infections in livestock.
- Disultrim (Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim) causes sequential blockage of folate synthesis resulting in a synergistic broad-spectrum anti-bacterial and anti-protozoal effect and a reduced rate of bacterial resistance.
Composition of Disultrim

Sulfadimethoxine -Na | 10% w/w |
Trimethoprim | 2% w/w |
Dosage and administration
- Chick: 0.5gm per litre of water for 4-7 days
- Adults: 1gm per litre of water for 4-7 days
Indication
For the treatment of:
- Fowl Cholera
- Pneumonia
- Necrotic enteritis
- Infectious coryza
- Multi-drug resistance bacterial infections
Precaution/Withdrawal
- Meat from treated animals shouldn’t be used during treatment and within 5 days from the last treatment.
- Milk from treated animals shouldn’t be used during treatment and after 5 days.
Notice to farmers
- Livestock farmers handling drugs must be cautious about the drugs and commit to their judicious management, use, and administration.
- In addition to this, farmers should promote routine health programs that prevent disease.
- The farm management systems, biosecurity, vaccination programs, nutrition, and hygiene should be strengthened.
- The withdrawal periods of each drug should be strictly followed.
