The AgriHack West Africa Project

You can apply for the Youth-Enabled Fish Farming AgriHack (YEFFA) 2016 competition to develop an innovative and commercially viable ICT solution to one or more of the debilitating challenges in the fish value chain in Nigeria, Benin or Togo.

Winners of this competition will receive seed funds and support fromTechnical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation(CTA) as well as business incubation from partnering ICT Hubs. They will also have the opportunity to pitch before investors who can provide further funding to help them scale up their innovative solutions.

Both startups and existing businesses are eligible to apply.

What is Youth-Enabled Fish Farming AgriHack (YEFFA)About?

YEFFA is an initiative aimed at using information technology to help solve some of the problems in the Fish Farming value chain in 3 countries of Africa – Nigeria, Benin and Togo.  The mission of YEFFA is to use Information Technology and Innovation to solve resilient challenges in fish farming value chains of Nigeria, Benin Republic and Togo.

Who Is Sponsoring Youth-Enabled Fish Farming AgriHack (YEFFA)?

The AgriHack project is sponsored by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA),a joint international institution of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union Their mission is to advance food and nutritional security, increase prosperity and encourage sound natural resource management in ACP countries.

Through the AgriHackTalent Initiative, they support ICT innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture.

Who Are the Organizers of the Youth-Enabled Fish Farming AgriHack (YEFFA)?

The initiative is led by Wennovation Hub (an ICT innovation center in Ibadan and Lagos, Nigeria) together with e-triLabs (an innovation center in Cotonou, Benin), Woelab (an innovation center in Lome, Togo) and the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND, an AgriInnovation and Entrepreneurship Centre in Warri).

 How Can I Participate in the Competition?

Application for the YEFFA competition closes by April 30. If your team is ready and your idea is ready, application takes less than 10 minutes

The YEFFA competition is open to any fish value chain actor, fish enthusiast and developer who can develop an innovative ICT solution to any challenge facing fish farming value chain in Nigeria, Benin or Togo.

To apply, you have to be resident in Nigeria, Benin or Togo

You can only apply as a team of two to three persons. A balanced team is expected to have at least one female member and should comprise an academia, an existing value chain actor and a developer.
