Intracox Oral
Intracox Oral is an anticoccidial medication containing toltrazuril with activity against Eimeria spp. in poultry. These Eimeria spp. include:

- Eimeria acervulina, brunetti, maxima, mitis, necatrix and tenella in chickens.
- Eimeria adenoides, galloparonis and meleagrimitis in turkeys.
- Coccidiosis is a common disease in birds and even rabbits. The parasite is passed from one animal to another via dropping contamination of food or water.
- Signs of coccidia range from poor growth to mild diarrhoea to sudden death.
- Lethargy, diarrhoea; weight loss and sudden death are all signs of infection with coccidia. Young birds are most susceptible and the disease may present in many ways. Coccidiosis is always worse during warm wet conditions. Regular removal of the droppings also helps to reduce the spread of the organism.
Indications for using Intracox Oral
- Coccidiosis of all stages like schizogony and gametogony stages of Eimeria spp. in chickens and turkeys.
Contraindications
- Administration to animals with impaired hepatic and/or renal function.
Intracox Oral: Side effects
At high dosages in laying hens egg-drop and in broilers growth inhibition and polyneuritis can occur.
Dosage
For oral administration:
- 500 ml per 500 litres of drinking water (25 ppm) for continuous medication over 48 hours, or
- 1500 ml per 500 litres of drinking water (75 ppm) given for 8 hours per day, on 2 consecutive days
- This corresponds to a dose rate of 7 mg of toltrazuril per kg of body weight per day for 2 consecutive days.
Note
- Supply the medicated drinking water as the only source of drinking water.
- Do not administer to poultry producing eggs for human consumption.
Withdrawal times
For meat:
- Chickens: 18 days.
- Turkeys : 21 days.
